ICF and the Health and Safety Authority (HSA) recently held two block manufacturing safety workshops. The first workshop was held in the Horse and Jockey Hotel, Tipperary on the 26th April and the second on the 3rd May in Hodson Bay, Athlone.  Both events were a great success and were very well attended by ICF members.

The HSA has identified concrete block manufacturing as a major priority for 2018 and has indicated that its inspectors will carry out detailed inspections of stand-alone concrete block manufacturing locations and also in quarries where block manufacturing takes place. The objective of the safety workshops was to inform members of the areas that the HSA will be focusing on and the standards that will be expected.

Presentations were given by Jim Holmes, HSA and Gordon Bloomer, Coote Finlay Engineering.  These presentations can be found on the members area of the website or click here.

A copy of the the HSA checklist identifying key safety issues arising in block manufacturing was handed out at each workshop.  This is also available to download on the members area or click here.
