ICF members participated in a management seminar which took place in advance of the Federation’s Annual General Meeting on November 27th.

The outlook for the economy and the construction sector was very much to the fore at ICF’s industry seminar which preceded the Federation’s Annual General Meeting in November. Dr Conor O’Toole, Associate Research Professor, Economic and Social Research Institute made a presentation on the opportunities and challenges facing the Irish economy and Hubert Fitzpatrick, Director General of the Construction Industry Federation updated ICF members on the outlook for the construction sector in Ireland. Lisa Saunders, Director, Lisa Saunders Consultancy made a presentation on ‘Minerals Matter’ which is an initiative on attracting future talent to the mineral products sector in the UK.

The seminar programme also included a session on sustainability. ICF welcomed Frank Gallagher, Principal Officer, Environmental Protection, Department of the Environment, Climate and Communications who outlined the government’s plans on reducing construction waste through greater circularity. Stephen O’Shea, Head of Sustainable Construction & Reporting and Thomas Lowry, Senior Technical Manager, Cairn Homes gave ICF members details of Cairn Homes’ embodied carbon roadmap which was followed by a presentation from ICF’s Head of Sustainability, Conor Hayes on the progress achieved to date in reducing the carbon intensity of concrete and on ICF activities to assist members to further reduce impacts and meet future challenges.
