ICF has published a report into the cost of concrete and quarried materials used in new house construction.

The key findings from this research are that:

  1. The basic construction materials supplied by quarry operators, readymix concrete suppliers, concrete block and other concrete product suppliers account for just 3.4% of the cost of building three bedroomed semi-detached dwellings in the Greater Dublin Area (GDA).
  2. Including the site acquisition costs and VAT, the basic construction materials account for just 2.8% of the total cost of providing a standard three-bedroom house in the GDA.
  3. The cost of these construction materials has increased marginally since 2018 when these materials accounted for 2.6% of the total cost of providing a dwelling.
