The HSA has identified concrete block manufacturing as a major priority for 2018.  The authority has indicated that they will carry out detailed inspections in stand-alone concrete block manufacturing locations and also in quarries where block manufacturing takes place.

In order to assist the industry to prepare for these inspections, the HSA with input from the ICF Health & Safety Committee, has developed a checklist highlighting the main areas that will be inspected.

There will be two joint ICF / HSA workshops in the coming weeks at which safety presentations will be made by the Authority and Coote Engineering. In addition, copies of the inspection checklist will also be disseminated at each event.

These workshops will be aimed at Quarry Operators / Quarry Managers/Supervisors and Health & Safety Personnel. It is very important that relevant members have representation at these seminars.

The events will take place as follows:

• Thursday 26^th April 2-5pm – Horse and Jockey Hotel, Co. Tipperary
• Thursday 3^rd May 2-5pm – Hodson Bay Hotel, Athlone.
